Our mission
We are dedicated to helping you learn and apply advanced Enterprise Java (J2EE/JEE) technologies. We have no hidden agendas to sell you anything else.
We do not partner with tool vendors. You get an unbiased presentation of tools.
You have fought hard to justify spending part of your budget on training. You don't want to waste it on training charlatans.
- We are not software vendors who are trying to sell you an an application server or tool.
- We are not mediocre book authors who are trying to sell you their book.
- We are not stealth owned by Microsoft.
- You will not get an egomaniac instructor who is more interested in showing off how much they know rather than helping you learn.
Our instructors
- At a minimum our instructors hold master's degrees. 90% of our instructors hold doctorates. We have no kids with community college diplomas and fake CTO titles who "write" books on the buzzwords du jour which are essentially reformatted product documentation.
- Each of our instructors have at least 20 years software development experience. In addition they have at least 10 years Java development experience.
- Each of our instructors spend at least half of their time developing software or mentoring projects
- Every one of our instructors are trained as instructors. We recognize that teaching and software development are two separate skills. Assuming that a good software developer is a good instructor is a logical fallacy.
- We will not hire a book author as an instructor. You want someone who spends their time developing software, not books. "The guy who wrote the book on the subject" is usually the least qualified to teach it; they spend their time writing books rather than software. They are more interested in selling books and self glorification.
Our course materials
Successful software projects are designed by experienced software architects. Successful courses are designed by experienced educators. A person who slaps together powerpoint slides is not designing a course.
- Our courses are architected and designed to be pedagogically correct by a degreed and state certified education expert. Would you undergo surgery from a software engineer simply because they have been to a doctor themselves?
- We write all of our materials. Everything is original. Nothing is offshore outsourced. Nothing has been stolen from other sources.
- Our materials are updated continually. They follow the latest specification and most current application server release or fixpack or service pack.
- We cut through the hype. Currently "Patterns", "Inversion of Control" "Spring" and "Hibernate" are the hot topics for selling books and courses or speaking at "Just Fluff" conferences. Rather than parroting what you can read online elsewhere, we share our practical experience with you so you can determine what is really useful and what is a load of hype.
