Gutenberg problem

WordPress moved to using the Gutenberg plugin a while back. I published a few posts using it and the Block editor. It was OK.

I had automatic update turned on for plugins. It’s worked for a long time.

The other day, the nicht-Gute-enberg plugin was automatically updated. Yay.

It crashed WordPress entirely. Right. My site 503ed because of a Turdpress plugin. I couldn’t even use wp-admin to log in and fix things.

What happened was that the plugin updated, but it needed a minimum version of WordPress. So, you would need to update WordPress itself and then update Gutenberg. Their team apparently doesn’t know about automated testing and integration testing.

I had to log into the host and manually remove the plugin. Immediately the site worked. I got into wp-admin and was able to update WordPress then reinstall Gutenberg. So nothing is complaining right now.

Except Gutenberg still has bugs. In the posts that I’ve written using it, you will see the content, but none of the rest of the site – i.e. the header, the footer, sidebar etc. Also, in the comment section there is an error message.

Sorry for the annoyance. I hope they fix the plugin soon.
